2016 Barry Roubaix 62 Mile Dirt road race!

June 21, 2016

What an awesome Race, The team compound was top notch{thanks Shogun and Bellringer}, and just hanging out at a race. I love it! My race week was perfect. My race sleep was perfect. My pre-race was perfect.

This years 62 Mile race course was harder then last years for sure!  The sandy loose conditions were tough today.  This was awesome, but sucked at the same time. Don’t get me wrong I love the heat but it added to the race event. The first 30 miles I was all H.A.M. The second half got a lot looser, but I was still H.A.M. But it was tough. Last year we formed a good group Till the end. This year it was every man and woman for themselves. No work being done as a group.  Basically a solo run for the most part.  I was one of the few that did it on an MTB bike with CX tires. Road the Schwalbe CX tires.  Great weather compare to other years, but moving it to an April date will do that.  Next year it will be moved back to March which could mean colder, but possibly faster conditions.

Last year stats were 215 average watts with a 3:26 finish. This year was a 246 average watts with a 3:35 finish. A much harder race and not as a fast pace then last year, but I loved it.

I really loved the beer selection. Oberon FTW!
